The AvtoVAZ auto concern plans to launch production at the former Nissan plant on June 14. This follows from the presentation that the company’s CEO Maxim Sokolov presented at the Digital Industry of Industrial Russia conference. TASS 2 June.
“June 14, 2023 — the start of production at the Lada St. Petersburg plant. With the participation of a partner, the production of a new Lada model will be launched in St. Petersburg, ”the presentation says.
Earlier, Fontanka reported that the production of the new LADA X-cross 5 crossover at the former Nissan plant will start in June 2023. The class C front-wheel drive crossover is an adaptation for the Russian market of the Chinese FAW Bestune T77. In 2023, the company expects to produce up to 10,000 vehicles. The assembly immediately starts from the conveyor. By the end of the year, another crossover and a sedan will join the range.
Recall that Nissan stopped production at a plant in St. Petersburg in March 2022, and then sold it for 1 euro, along with other Russian assets, to FSUE NAMI, subordinate to the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation. Then the plant passed to AvtoVAZ.
