Moscow. August 14th. INTERFAX.RU – AvtoVAZ resumes production of Lada Largus cars from Monday, the company said.
Cars of this family have not been produced since last summer.
In total, in August, AvtoVAZ plans to produce 650 Lada Largus cars of various modifications in Togliatti. This number will also include car kits for an experimental batch of Lada e-Largus electric vehicles, which will be assembled in Izhevsk by the end of the year. In addition, it is planned to produce several bodies in Togliatti, which will later be used in Izhevsk to adjust technological equipment.
Earlier, AvtoVAZ announced the decision to move the production of the entire Lada Largus family to a production site in Izhevsk by mid-2024. The transfer is connected with the company’s plans to load production line No. 1 in Tolyatti, where in the short term it is planned to significantly increase the production of Vesta family cars, as well as put the Lada Vesta Aura sedan and the Vesta platform crossover on the conveyor. Thus, the first production line will specialize in the production of platform vehicles.
The interruption in the production of Largus will also allow Russian suppliers to master an additional range of components to increase technological sovereignty according to this model, AvtoVAZ adds.
As reported, in the seven months of 2023, AvtoVAZ sold 173,000 Lada cars in the Russian Federation, twice as many as in the same period in 2022. The production of Lada cars and car kits for the same period increased by 1.8 times, to 161 thousand units.
The company continues to confirm previously announced plans to produce more than 400,000 vehicles this year. In July, AvtoVAZ produced about 32,000 vehicles and vehicle kits, which was the highest monthly output since March 2022. In the coming months, the automaker wants to increase the rate of assembly of new cars, speeding up line No. 1 (Vesta) to 40 cars per hour, line No. 5 (Granta) – up to 52 cars per hour.
