Moscow. December 15. INTERFAX.RU – Production of a pilot batch of electric vehicles of the e-Largus model has started at the Izhevsk AvtoVAZ plant, an Interfax correspondent reported.
On Friday, the president of AvtoVAZ JSC Maxim Sokolov and the head of Udmurtia Alexander Brechalov visited the enterprise on a working visit.
“We are launching the first, experimental batch of Lada e-Largus cars – as promised, before the end of 2023. Today six cars will roll off the assembly line, and in total there will be 30 units in the pilot batch,” Sokolov told reporters at the enterprise.
It is assumed that the Lada e-Largus family of electric vehicles will include passenger and commercial station wagons in versions with different batteries and with different load capacities.
The machines will be equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor with a rated power of 50 kW (for a short time it can reach a peak power of 120 kW). Two traction lithium-ion batteries are located in the engine compartment of the car and under the floor of the body – in the place where the gas tank was previously located.
As AvtoVAZ clarified, the development of the electric power plant for the e-Largus was carried out by the Autonomous Energy Systems (SAE) company, which is part of the Itelma Group of Companies, in collaboration with the automaker’s engineers. The batteries from the SAE are designed and manufactured in Russia, the control and temperature control system is also Russian. The company plans to localize the last imported element – the battery cell – in the next two years.
Serial production of Lada e-Largus is planned to begin in the second quarter of 2024, along with the resumption of production of standard Lada Largus with internal combustion engines.
“The volume that is planned to be produced for Largus cars with internal combustion engines is currently still being approved by the board of directors, the meeting of which will be held before the end of this year. But our proposal is about 30 thousand cars, both with internal combustion engines and electric (for 2024). – IF). The volume of production of electric vehicles directly will depend directly on support measures, which within the next year will apply either only to highly localized products with an electric power plant, or to the entire list of products, including those from foreign countries,” Sokolov told reporters.
