The holiday season from July and August for AvtoVAZ employees is postponed from April 4 to 24. A statement from the carmaker’s public relations department said the decision was made “to prevent a significant reduction in employee income” and to “allow the company to build up the necessary reserve of components for a more stable operation of the company”.
“AvtoVAZ” conveyor will be launched for a few days – from March 16 to 18 to temporarily restore the simplest and older models in production “Lada Granta and Niva. On the other hand, the assembly line for the Lada models developed on Renault’s B0 platform is still idle.
Although the AvtoVAZ plants in Tolyatti and Izhevsk are partially down, Lada’s sales are not sitting idly by – the recommended retail prices for new cars have risen for the second time since the beginning of the month.
Other car factories in Russia have also shut down. For example, production of Mercedes-Benz cars in Moscow has been stopped, but BMW has stopped production of its own brand in Kaliningrad, as well as other Western manufacturers represented in the Russian market have announced the suspension of production and the suspension of the supply of parts.
