AvtoVAZ conducts about 80% of crash tests virtually

The Executive Director of Rostec Oleg Yevtushenko said this in an interview with RIA Novosti.

“Digital solutions are also applied at other enterprises of the corporation. So, AvtoVAZ uses virtual modeling technology to develop new cars. Experts rely on computers for such aspects of the car’s design as aerodynamics and climate control, safety, acoustics, rigidity and durability of the body, ”he said.

“75-80% of crash tests are virtually carried out, and the test results always confirm the calculations,” Yevtushenko emphasized.

The director of Rostec also noted that KamAZ also actively uses virtual modeling technologies and implements robotics.

Like many other Russian car factories, AvtoVAZ will suspend the assembly of cars from March 30 to April 3 under the presidential decree to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
