AVROTROS won a lawsuit filed by Hollandse Energie Maatschappij (HEM) on Wednesday. The energy company found that the program Radar had made damaging statements about HIM.
Radar, presented by Antoinette Hertsenberg, made several broadcasts about alleged abuses at HEM after complaints from consumers. Society thought so Radar had made incorrect and harmful statements about HIM.
The complaints received by the editors of the television program were often about aggressive sales methods, too expensive contracts and too high cancellation rates.
According to the Midden-Nederland court, there is “undoubtedly an abuse to which AVROTROS may pay critical attention”. That is why the articles on the website of Radar stand over HIM.
HEM is now under increased supervision by the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets and the company must get its finances and administration in order as quickly as possible.
