Avril Lavigne made her red carpet comeback at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMA) on Sunday. The 36-year-old singer sported a colorful outfit that flaunted her abs. Her boyfriend, musician Mod Sun, accompanied her to the event.

In a heartfelt message to her fans, she opened up about her battle with Lyme disease, which had kept her out of the spotlight for a long time.
