Walk of Fame marks its 25th anniversary this year, and the singer-songwriter who rose to fame with hits such as Complicated et Sk8is Boi will be one of the Canadian personalities she will honour.
Tantoo Cardinal, a prolific Cree and Métis actress, will also receive a star on a sidewalk in Toronto’s entertainment district, in recognition of a career that spans five decades. She will play in the next Martin Scorsese film, Killers of the Flower Moon.
So will Gary Slaight, philanthropist and broadcast industry icon, and Michael Budman and Don Green, co-founders of outdoor brand Roots.
Canada’s Walk of Fame will mark its anniversary with a special event scheduled for December 2, which will air on CTV at a later date.
The organization has already announced that National Hockey League star forward Connor McDavid and television commentator Rick Mercer will be inducted this year.
Other inductions are to be announced in the coming months.
