The police officer at the front then waved his hand to ask Meerza to step aside to avoid a collision. Meerza then stepped aside until she touched the grass on the side of the road and then continued on her way.
“This is if I get hit by them can I claim it? Luckily I’m slow,” wrote Meerza on her TikTok account as reported by Paultan.
The upload immediately received various comments from netizens in Malaysia. Many thought it was a danger to other motorists. Imagine if the driver was traveling at a higher speed, it is not impossible that an accident was unavoidable.
Like traffic rules in general, when overtaking, parking, or turning, the driver cannot be careless. In Malaysia, such a reckless act can result in a fine of up to 300 ringgit (Rp 1 million) and a penalty if it causes injury or injury to another person.
In Indonesia, for drivers who are determined to go against the flow, there is a penalty waiting for them. Traffic violators who go against the flow will be subject to sanctions in accordance with Article 287 paragraph 1 of Law no. 22 of 2009 concerning Road Traffic and Transportation. According to the article, traffic violators who go against the flow can be subject to imprisonment or a fine.
“Everyone who drives a Motorized Vehicle on the Road violating the rules of orders or prohibitions stated by Traffic Signs as referred to in Article 106 paragraph (4) letter a or Road Markings as referred to in Article 106 paragraph (4) letter b shall be punished with imprisonment maximum of 2 (two) months or a maximum fine of Rp. 500,000.00 (five hundred thousand rupiah),” the article reads.
