Avoid the Palace Area! Tomorrow there will be a Massive Labor Demo

Tens of thousands laborer will be demonstrating at the Merdeka Palace tomorrow, Saturday January 14 2023. Labor Party President Said Iqbal said the demonstration was aimed at rejecting the contents of Perppu No. 2 of 2022 concerning Job Creation

There are 9 points that are rejected by workers, namely related to issues of minimum wages, outsourcing, severance pay, contract employees, leave, working hours, foreign workers, layoffs, to the elimination of criminal sanctions.

“Apart from the Palace, simultaneous actions will also be carried out in various industrial cities,” he said in a written statement, Friday (13/1/2023).

Said Iqbal said that this action was only the beginning. It doesn’t stop here, the workers will hold a follow-up action to reject the contents of the Job Creation Perppu.

Moreover, the government has not moved to revise the contents of the Perppu. Meanwhile, the DPR tends to accept the contents of the Perppu, so workers have no other choice but to hold demonstrations.

After carrying out the action at the State Palace, thousands of workers will move to Kelapa Gading Sport Mall to attend the Declaration of the Fighting Regions as well as the opening of the Workers’ Party’s First Working Meeting.

On this occasion, various issues will be voiced. Among other things, rejecting the contents of the Job Creation Perppu, rejecting the Criminal Code Law, rejecting the PPSK Law, especially articles related to old age security, and urging the Bill on Protection of Domestic Workers to be passed immediately.

Said Iqbal also demanded that the government thoroughly investigate the human rights violators recommended by Komnas HAM. “Moreover, President Jokowi has acknowledged that there have been human rights violations, such as human rights violations in 1965, during the reform era, and violations in various regions,” he said.
