AVISO – press conference AK/vida 6.11.23: What is happening to our railways?

“Our railways – future on rails”: AK Vienna and the vida union present a new campaign

Vienna (OTS) We would like to warmly invite you to the upcoming hybrid press conference, where we will examine the European Commission’s new PSO directive in detail and present a legal opinion on it. This directive has a drastic impact on rail transport and the jobs of rail workers in Austria, as it redefines the guidelines for the direct allocation of state funds to companies in the rail sector. The directive could result in an obligation to tender transport services as well as wage and social dumping. Good jobs on the railways are in danger of being lost due to privatization. The result would be conditions similar to those in other countries with (partially) privatized railways such as Germany. The various railway companies are one of the leading employment sectors in Austria and various railway companies rely on government support in order to further expand mobility for all citizens. For this reason, the vida union and the AK Vienna have launched a new campaign and are presenting it in a press conference.

The Vienna Chamber of Labor and the Austrian transport and services union vida invite you to a press conference on the effects of the PSO directive.

Prof. Dr. jur. Konrad Lachmayer will present its legal opinion on the effects of the change in direct awarding on rail transport.
