AVISO: Education and wellbeing for children and young people; PK AK Anderl, parent representative Dwulit, psychiatry coordination. Lochner, February 5th, 2021

Education needs long-term solutions instead of short-term announcements

Vienna (OTS) Kindergartens, schools and vocational schools have been in a state of emergency for almost a year. Home schooling, distance learning and educational lockdowns push teachers, parents and students to their limits. The discrepancy between announcements and reality in school operations, for example in the care options, as well as a lack of long-term planning make education more difficult and lead to massive uncertainty and stress. Schools are far more than repositories, they are important social places, especially for children. The lack of contact with peers, the threat of loneliness and the lack of daily structure can lead to increased psychological problems in children and adolescents. The psychological stress on parents is also increasing. Therefore, long-term solutions and planning security are finally needed instead of short-term announcements – the Minister of Education is called upon!
