Avirtual develops visible light catalyst, a new air purification technology… Targeting the global market

Gitex commemorative photo (CEO Kim Tae-jun, third from the left) A Virtual (CEO Kim Tae-jun) has begun targeting the global market with a new technology that will change the landscape of the air purification market.

Avirtual is an artificial intelligence (AI)-based air sterilization startup with the slogan ‘Transforming air everywhere’. Established in 2020, when the world was gripped with virus fears due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we developed core components necessary for air purification and introduced a diverse line of air sterilization platform devices, including AI air purification circulators, walk-through quarantine gates, and quarantine robots. there is.

Avirtual has developed a 4th generation air purification and sterilization technology with a strong sterilizing power of up to 99% in 5 minutes. This technology has the fastest sterilization speed among existing products in the global market, and is unrivaled compared to existing products, which take approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour.

Currently, we are customizing core sterilization solutions and working on projects with large global companies, and are supplying air purification sterilization technology and sterilization filter AirShield 4.0 parts to various industries such as home appliances, mobility, smart farms, and plants.

According to a report by Straits Research, a global market research company, the global air purification market size in 2022 will be approximately 30 trillion won. The market size is expected to grow at an average annual rate of 7% and reach approximately 61 trillion won in 2031. However, as UV ultraviolet rays, which are commonly used in air purification products, are known to be fatal to the human body to the extent that the World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on Cancer has classified them as carcinogens, the company is attracting attention from the industry by introducing a 4th generation visible light catalyst method to replace UV ultraviolet rays.

Avirtual has succeeded in developing technology that overcomes the limitations in efficiency, cost, and power consumption of photocatalysts that react to existing UV wavelength light sources. For the first time in the world, the 4th generation visible light catalyst method was used to demonstrate hydroxyl radical generation efficiency of up to 90 times more than that of the 3rd generation general photocatalyst. Hydroxyl radicals are harmless substances that fundamentally destroy the RNA and DNA structures of harmful substances such as viruses and bacteria. On the other hand, visible light catalysts generate hydroxyl radicals in the entire visible light wavelength range, which are harmless to the human body.

Not only is it more efficient at sterilizing than existing UV ultraviolet rays and is harmless to the human body, but it is also economical in terms of cost savings. Manufacturing costs can be reduced by up to 40 times and electricity bills can be reduced by more than 10 times.

Avirtual is introducing the visible light catalyst ‘RAVEN‘, and simultaneously launched the new product AMobee, which is optimized for purifying and sterilizing and deodorizing interior spaces of vehicles, at GITEX Dubai, the largest exhibition in the Middle East, and at the US crowdfunding Kickstarter.

Its vision was recognized when it was selected as a ‘2024 Hi Seoul Company’ in October through the AMobee lineup. Hi Seoul Enterprise Certification is granted by the Seoul Metropolitan Government to excellent small and medium-sized enterprises that have passed rigorous screening based on ‘management stability’, ‘growth’, ‘global capabilities’, and ‘expertise’, and is an important certification that proves that they are a company that will lead the future industry. It is an indicator.

In April of this year, an overseas corporation was established in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). After becoming the first Korean startup to exclusively open a store in Sharaf DG, the largest electronics retailer in the Middle East, the company is about to sign a store opening agreement with UAE electronics retailer Jacky’s group. This month, the largest exhibition in the Middle East, GITEX Global, Dubai, held a stand-alone booth and ended successfully.

Last September, the company established an overseas subsidiary in San Francisco, USA, launched its new product, AMobee, through the startup platform ‘Kickstarter’, and began making inroads into the North American, Canadian, and European markets. In addition, it has been selected for the Super Gap Startup 1000+ project conducted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and is currently carrying out the task.

CEO Kim Tae-joon said, “We will invest generously in research and development of visible light catalyst (RAVEN) to sterilize all the spaces we breathe without the need for power, and we will change the landscape of the air purification market and surpass Dyson.”
