This is the summary of the Master Plan for the tree spaces of Avilés that the Council is developing and whose objective is to establish the management of the city’s tree mass. To this end, in the coming weeks the inventory of the 10,000 specimens counted in the city will be completed and they will form part of a program in which all information related to each of them will be collected. Another innovation in the work system has to do with the model for treating diseased trees: a less invasive model will be chosen, both for example and for citizens.
The Terapia Verde company is in charge of putting endotherapy into practice, a system in which injections of treatments are made, which are transported to the tree through sage, affecting the nervous system of the pests that are damaging the specimen, already aphids or tigers. This avoids resorting to other means such as fumigation, which can cause “alarm” among the population.
In order to control the state of the trees, the municipal Master Plan will have a geographic information system (GIS), in which the 10,000 specimens that exist both in parks and in municipal green areas will be collected – the most will be excluded. private and public forestry.
