A man and a woman were wounded by bullets on an Avignon ring road on Saturday evening and the vital prognosis for the man is poor, the prosecution told AFP on Sunday.
The two people were injured in their vehicle, on the Charles de Gaulle ring road, at around 11pm on Saturday evening, sources familiar with the investigation told AFP. Both victims were taken to hospital, emergency services said.
The man, believed to be between 20 and 30 years old, was hit by “seven or eight” bullets while the woman, in her 20s, was shot in the shoulder, the Avignon public prosecutor’s office said.
According to The Dauphiné free, it’s about the shooting of Kalachnikov.
A new murder for drug trafficking?
The accident occurred while the victim’s car was stationary. The shots came from another vehicle parked alongside, the same source added.
“The first scenario considered” is that the two victims were stopped at a red light, underlined the Avignon prosecutor’s office, underlining that the course was still uncertain.
According to a source close to the investigation, the place is not associated with drug dealing and it is “too early” to establish the reasons for this gun attack.
The judicial police was seized.
Avignon has seen several drug-related murders in recent months.
