The Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests, Mohammed Sadiki, called, Friday in Rabat, for a profound transformation of production systems and practices in the field of avian health in order to to ensure a significant reduction in the use of antibiotics.
Speaking at the opening of the 13th edition of the International Scientific Days of the Moroccan Association of Avian Pathology (AMPA), organized under the theme “The dominant pathological conditions and the challenges of poultry farming after the era of antibiotics”, the minister highlighted the central role of the human element in this transformation strategy, as well as the importance of perpetuating and making agricultural development initiatives sustainable.
“All players in the sector, from producers to operators, including employees, are concerned by this approach,” he said, adding that poultry farming in agricultural policy directly and indirectly employs more than one person. half a million people and produces more than 800,000 tonnes of white meat and around 8 billion eggs.
Mr. Sadiki also underlined the importance of guaranteeing young generations future prospects in the agricultural sector, particularly through education and training, in order to ensure the sustainability of this vital sector for the national economy.
He also highlighted the need to find new technical solutions, while strengthening cooperation between veterinarians, researchers, professional organizations, pharmaceutical companies and public authorities. Organized on October 11 and 12 with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests, this scientific event aims to strengthen scientific research, to promote the exchange of expertise between professionals in the poultry sector, and to raise awareness of the alternatives available to antibiotics.
For two days, experts and specialists from Morocco and elsewhere will discuss the subject of antibiotic resistance in poultry farms, an issue which is causing increasing concern in scientific circles on a global scale, due to of its repercussions on human health. Among the topics that will be discussed at this conclave are the benefits of using vaccines in hatcheries and advances in early molecular diagnosis of diseases.
The program for this edition also includes practical workshops on poultry breeding techniques and molecular diagnostic tools, offering participants the opportunity to learn about the most recent technologies and practices in this field.
