Avian flu: the hypothesis of transmission between human beings ruled out

The case of a man who tested positive for H5N1 after the death of his daughter with the same virus had alerted the health authorities.

According to the WHO, of the 868 people infected with the H5N1 virus, 457 died.

We told you about it last week an 11-year-old girl from the rural province of Prey Veng died after being tested positive for H5N1 (a highly contagious strain in birds) and then her father was also declared positive.

The World Health Organization spoke on Friday of a “worrying situation” but the health watch agency announced on Tuesday February 28: “An investigation showed that they contracted the virus through contact with birds in the village. No transmission between father and daughter was found”.

The father, who showed no symptoms, was released from the hospital.
