Responding to the call for a strike launched at the national level by the CGT health, the state-certified operating room nurses (Ibode) stopped work on Tuesday to take part in the demonstration in front of the Ministry of Health, in Paris . They thus intended to show their disagreement following, in particular, the recent government announcements, by the means of the Ségur of health, where the Ibodes were not represented, which translates according to them, “a total lack of consideration”. In Aveyron, nine of the 19 Ibodes in Aveyron hospitals made the trip to Paris to take part in the demonstration.

Their remaining colleagues met all morning on the forecourt of the Jacques-Puel hospital, in order to educate users and share their demands with them. “What sets us apart from other nurses is that in addition to the 3 years of nursing school we take 18 months of additional courses to specialize ourselves, explains one of the strikers. Our mission is to ensure the safety and quality of care during a surgical intervention as an operating aid.

We have expertise in risk management and are essential to the smooth running of an operating theater. “During the health crisis, the ibode provided assistance to the various services welcoming Covid patients while ensuring the continuity of service at operating theater.

“A deterioration in the safety and quality of care”

Visibly suffering from a lack of recognition, the ibodes also fear that this will lead to “nurses’ disaffection for this specialization and therefore, in turn, a deterioration in the safety and quality of care in the operating room”.
