Both the number of daily hospital admissions and the number of infections continue to rise. The number of deaths currently remains stable.

Between 14 and 20 September, an average of 50 people were admitted to hospital each day as a result of a corona infection. This is evident from the preliminary data on the online dashboard of health institute Sciensano on Tuesday morning. That is over 18 more than in the previous seven-day period.
The number of infections also continues to rise. In the week of 12 to 18 September, an average of 1,231 infections per day was registered in Belgium, which is an increase of 51 percent compared to the previous week. Since the start of the corona crisis, 103,392 positive cases have already been registered in our country.
The number of deaths remained stable, with an average of 2.4 deaths per day between September 12 and 18. In our country, 9,950 people have died from the consequences of an infection since the start of the corona crisis.
Between 5 and 18 September, the infection rate was 124.7 per 100,000 inhabitants, an increase of 117 percent.
