Average number of corona cases is going down again | Inland

The National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) received 13,400 reports of positive tests between Wednesday morning and Thursday morning. That is slightly higher than the previous days, but it is significantly lower than last Thursday. At that time, more than 16,000 infections had been confirmed.

Lowest number of new cases since November 12

In the past seven days, RIVM registered 91,728 new cases. That is the lowest level since November 12, more than a month ago. On average, this amounts to 13,104 positive tests per day. That average falls for the eighteenth day in a row.

Amsterdam counted 752 new cases last day, Rotterdam 597 and The Hague 398. This is followed by Eindhoven (295), Utrecht (277), Haarlem (212) and Almere (208). No one tested positive in four municipalities.

RIVM received a message in the past day that 40 people have died as a result of their corona infection. For a Thursday, that’s the lowest number in about a month. Among the dead are seven residents of Rotterdam and six people from Rheden in Gelderland. Just because their death has been reported now doesn’t mean they died in the past day.

In the past seven days, 313 deaths have been recorded, an average of almost 45 per day. That is the lowest level since November 25.

2221 more corona patients in Dutch hospitals

The number of corona patients in Dutch hospitals has decreased further over the past 24 hours. At the moment, 2221 people with Covid-19 are still occupying a hospital bed, according to the most recent figures from the National Coordination Center for Patients Spreading (LCPS). That is 34 fewer than Wednesday.

Care employees of the nursing departments are currently treating 1,657 corona patients, seventeen fewer than on Wednesday. 162 new corona patients were admitted to the clinics, but because more people left the wards, the occupation fell.

On Thursday, 564 corona patients will be in intensive care, also a decrease of seventeen patients compared to 24 hours earlier. 25 new people were admitted to the ICUs with Covid-19, the disease caused by the corona virus. Because more people died or were allowed to leave the departments, the occupation went down.
