“Average Gross Salary in Estonia Rises by 13.3% in Q1 2021, Dominated by ICT and Finance Industries”

The average gross salary in Estonia in the first quarter of this year reached 1,741 euros per month, which is 13.3% more than in the corresponding period last year, according to the data published by the Estonian Statistics Department.

At the same time, the average real salary was 1443 euros, which is 3.2% less than in January-March last year. The median salary in Estonia in the first three months of the year was 1424 euros.

The highest gross salary in the first quarter was in the information and communication technology sector, where it reached 3,160 euros per month, in finance and insurance, where it averaged 2,952 euros per month, and in the energy sector, where the average monthly salary reached 2,435 euros.

On the other hand, the lowest salary was in hospitality and public catering – 1,124 euros -, in the other services sector, where it was 1,142 euros, as well as in the real estate sector, where the average salary reached 1,209 euros per month.

Compared to January-March of last year, the average gross salary in Estonia increased the most in education (+19.8%), as well as in guest accommodation and public catering (+17.3%).

Among the counties, the highest average gross monthly salary last quarter in Estonia was in Harju and Tartu counties, while the lowest was in Sāre and Valga counties.
