“Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora” was without a doubt the biggest surprise we were served when Ubisoft held its Forward conference during E3 2021, although the company also showed off «Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope».
The game is being developed by Massive Entertainment, which has previously made games such as “The Division” (as well as the sequels), and like the latter games, “Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora” Snowdrop uses Ubisoft’s very impressive proprietary game engine, so the graphics should be nothing to postpone on.
James Cameron’s “Avatar”, the film from 2009, is still one of the most lucrative films in history, and now as both «Avatar 2» and a handful of other sequels are on the way, so it makes sense that Ubisoft is now joining the fun with a new game taking place on Pandora.
In the video section below you can watch the game’s first trailer:
Not much is known about the game, but what we do know is that it is planned to be launched during 2022, and should be available at Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PS5, PC and Amazon Luna.
We assume that the game will be launched together with “Avatar 2”, since the marketing machinery around the film will no doubt whip up interest in the now 12-year-old film universe. The sequel to “Avatar” will hit theaters on December 16, 2022.
This is not the first “Avatar” game we have released from Ubisoft. “James Cameron’s Avatar: The Game” was released in 2009, but received rave reviews from critics. The average score at Metacritic is at 61 – we hope of course that the new game will be far better.
