Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora – First-Person Perspective and DualSense Controller for PS5 – Explained by Developers

When Cyberpunk 2077’s first-person camera was confirmed, many players lamented. Disappointment also occurred when visiting the picturesque Pandora. Now the authors of the game Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora they explain why they chose first-person. There was also use of the DualSense controller and the capabilities of the PlayStation 5 console.

“We want you to feel as immersed as if you were actually on Pandora. We want you to connect with nature, which itself is somewhat the main character of the game,” explains director Ditte Deenfeldt’s decision for IGN. Conversely, when flying and riding, the camera will be from a third-person perspective to enjoy beautiful results.

Unfortunately, it will not be possible to switch between cameras. It’s supposed to be because the developers decided to focus on the best experience possible. Representatives of the team from the Massive Entertainment studio (creators of The Division series) explain that when harvesting crops, hunting or just moving, you can see and inspect everything nicely, whereas from a third-person perspective it would be just small pixels.
