AVASA receives Pink Triangle Badge for its fight against breast cancer

Merida, Yucatan, September 10, 2024.- As a result of its commitment to combating breast cancer in the country, AVASA (Hertz Mexico, Dollar Mexico, Thrifty Mexico and Firefly Mexico) received the Pink Triangle Distinction for the first time, awarded jointly by Fundación Tócate IAP and Concanaco-Servytur Mexico.

At a formal ceremony, Marco Andueza, CEO of AVASA (Hertz Mexico, Dollar Mexico, Thrifty Mexico & Firefly Mexico), received the award and said: “This distinction reinforces our commitment as a company that cares deeply about the health and well-being of the community, but mainly of our employees.”

The Pink Triangle Badge seeks to encourage business, government and society to promote early detection of breast cancer by raising awareness and informing their employees about the disease, thereby reducing deaths from the disease.

“In Mexico, 23,790 women are diagnosed with breast cancer, and 7,838 of them have died from this disease, remaining the leading cause of cancer death in women,” stressed Alejandra Gutiérrez Blanco, president of the Private Assistance Institution.

Among the actions that AVASA and its four brands have implemented to support the cause, the donation made in October of last year to Fundación Tócate stands out, so that the institution can continue with the actions that contribute to the early detection and combat of this disease, which mainly affects women but can also be detected in men.

According to Andueza, AVASA will continue to work through awareness and early detection programs for employees within the company, in order to promote the work of Fundación Tócate and bring these types of initiatives closer to the community in the region and be an active ally for the cause.

The company will include awareness raising in its health policy, staff training and campaigns for early diagnosis of breast cancer. It will also make a donation to the Tócate Foundation so that it can continue its work in this area.
