Since its identity was separated from Veloz, the Toyota Avanza had to step down from the throne of the best-selling car in Indonesia. Throughout the first half of 2022, sales of the Toyota Avanza (without Veloz) lost to this car!
Citing distribution data from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo) cumulatively throughout the first semester of 2022, there were 465,252 units of new cars circulating on the streets of Indonesia. This score is better than the achievement in the same period in 2021. At that time from January to June 2021, car sales in retail only touched 387,844 units.
As for the best-selling cars, from wholesales data (distribution from factories to dealers) released by Gaikindo, the best-selling car in the first semester of 2022 or the January-June period is the Honda Brio (including Brio Satya). Honda’s flagship city car, which had become the best-selling car in 2020, recorded the highest wholesale sales in the first six months of this year.

Data from Gaikindo noted that the distribution of the Honda Brio RS and Honda Brio Satya reached 27,738 units. It became the model with the most wholesales in the first half of 2022.
In second place is the Suzuki Carry pickup. The runner-up for the best-selling car in the first semester of 2022 recorded wholesale sales of 26,042 units.
While the Toyota Avanza had to settle for third place. Without being combined with Veloz, Avanza sales were recorded at 25,337 units.
Toyota Kijang Innova filled the fourth post with sales of 23,592 units. Furthermore, in fifth place is the Mitsubishi Xpander (including the Xpander Cross) with a distribution record of 21,770 units.
