The drama happened last Saturday in the Lauchernalp region near the Valais municipality of Wiler. Shortly after 11:00 an avalanche breaks out on the slope, huge amounts of snow thunder down. A 55-year-old man from Germany is buried.
–
Particularly tragic: the winter sportsman’s son had to dig for the missing father in the snow until the emergency services arrive (LOOK reported). But any help should be too late for the German. The same evening the man died in the hospital from his injuries.

S. was an experienced alpinist
The deceased is the German finance expert Max S. * from Stuttgart. He worked as a managing partner of an asset management company, as reported by «Bild». He is said to have been an experienced alpinist.

Max S. also apparently knew the region in Valais well. For years he is said to have been regularly snowshoeing and climbing in Switzerland. In the small town of Fischbiel, he also owned his own chalet.
–
According to initial findings, S. had left the ski slopes with his son below the Gandegg station on Saturday and headed towards Stieltihorn. At an altitude of about 2700 m. M. the father was then carried away by the avalanche.
