A man has been taken by an avalanche in Trysil. He was dug up by people on the ground who saw the landslide, says Pål Erik Teigen, chief of staff in the Innlandet police district.
– One person was missing, he is awake and taken care of by health personnel, Teigen says to NRK.
The police do not know anything more about the person’s state of health.
The landslide happened after the man drove down Bygderkanken on the east side of Trysilfjellet. He himself triggered the avalanche and was caught. The landslide was 100 to 150 meters wide.
– We take a rough search now to be sure that there are no more in the avalanche, says Teigen.
A dozen people then slipped and started the search immediately.
– An awful lot to do
It was a little before 12 o’clock that the police were notified that there had been an avalanche in Trysilfjellet, and that there must have been people in the avalanche.
– There is only one person who has been reported missing after the avalanche, but the police can not rule out that there are several people there, the police report in a press release.
Emergency services, volunteers and the Civil Defense assist in searching the landslide area.
The police tell NTB that they are on full alert.
– There is an awful lot to do here now. What we can say is that we have been notified of a landslide opposite Knettsetra, and that there may be people in the landslide. That’s what we know so far. We mobilize everything we have from emergency services and volunteers, says operations manager Bård Einar Hoft.
SkiStar Trysil wrote yesterday on its own Facebook page that there has been over 30 centimeters of fresh snow in recent days. According to Yr, another seven centimeters have come in the last 24 hours.
