Train from Aargau derailed while shunting at Bremgart station – probably minor damage to tracks
An Aargau Verkehr (AVA) train derailed at Bremgarten train station on Friday afternoon. The incident happened during a shunting maneuver. The exact cause of the accident is being determined.
A rumble could be heard shortly after 10 a.m. on Friday morning at Bremgarten train station. A reader’s photo shows an Aargau Verkehr (AVA) train slightly next to the tracks and railway operations personnel. When asked by AZ, AVA media director Michael Briner confirmed an incident.
“During shunting maneuvers this morning, a train train derailed on the “Gleisharfe”, the switch to the depot. Since it was a shunting trip, there were no passengers on board apart from the locomotive crew. No one was injured in the incident.

According to Briner, one of the two vehicles was able to be put back on the track after a short time. The second vehicle should also be back on the tracks during the afternoon. They would then be carefully checked for any damage and repaired if necessary. “Initial assessments indicate minor damage to vehicles and tracks. The exact cause of the accident is being determined,” said Briner.
The AVA also immediately informed the Swiss Safety Investigation Board (SUST) in accordance with regulations. They will receive a detailed report of the incident from the AVA for assessment.
The incident had no impact on ongoing train operations. Between Bremgarten and Dietikon the AVA trains are currently canceled until mid-May due to construction work and are being replaced by buses. The trains in the direction of Wohlen were able to run normally.
