48 travel-loving and young-at-heart seniors took part in the trip to Meißen and Dresden organized by 50plus Lochau and experienced four impressive days in perfect weather.
Already on arrival, the charming wine and porcelain town of Meissen, romantically situated on the Elbe, was visited with a city tour and a visit to the cathedral, which ended with a wine tasting.
A highlight the next day was the city of Dresden with its magnificent sandstone buildings in the historic old town, which were explored by bus and on foot. In the afternoon there was an excursion along the flooded Elbe to Pillnitz with a visit to the castle and park, where the noble estates with their vineyards on the hills by the river were a delight.
Another highlight was the visit to the Saxon Switzerland National Park. One of the most visited places is the famous rock formations of the Bastei and Bastei Bridge in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains. Here, everyone can enjoy a tremendous and spectacular view over the Elbe Valley. The historic Königstein Fortress, a testament to the art of fortress architecture, stands high above the town of the same name. Dresden was explored at night.
Chairman Xaver Sinz thanked board member Gudrun Schedler for the proven prudent organization and tour guide as well as chief driver Horses for a safe journey.
