Weatherman Frank Deboosere also warns against the first autumn storm. “The trees are still in leaf, they will catch more wind and so they are more likely to blow over. It is advisable not to park your car under a tree on a Friday evening.”
Because it is a northwesterly storm, the wind will blow perpendicular to the coastline. “Fortunately, we are facing so-called neap tide”, Deboosere reassures. “That means that the water is less high at high tide. The storm winds will push the seawater towards the coast, but we do not expect many problems there. That would be different if we had a spring tide, for example.”
