Less than a week before the launch of the FIA WEC World Endurance Championship with the 1,000 miles of Sebring, the field meets this weekend on the American circuit for the prologue, a traditional meeting at the start of the season. Two days of testing will allow all the competitors to meet on the same circuit as they concentrate on their final preparations.
With a maximum of twelve hours and thirty minutes of running time across four sessions, Alpine Elf Endurance Team and its drivers (Matthieu Vaxiviere, Julien Canal and Charles Milesi in the n°36; Andre Negrao, Memo Rojas and Olli Caldwell in the n°35) will redouble their efforts to perfect their automatic systems and find the best compromises so that the A470s can take the measure and master the many challenges of the American track.
Philippe Sinault before the launch of the 2023 season of the world endurance championship with Alpine: “Mobilized and committed”
Engaged this year in LMP2 before returning next season to the premier Hypercar category, the Berruyère team intends to join in the fight for victories. “Sebring always represents a huge challenge to start a new season, moreover by rediscovering a category as competitive as LMP2 as we are doing this year, said boss Philippe Sinault. We must take advantage of the prologue to continue the work started in Portimão, whether in defining the settings, the chemistry of our crews or the study of the tyres. Our driving has been limited this winter, so we have to make the most of each lap on this particular playing field in order to readapt to the track and its specificities. We have the advantage of having five riders who already have experience at Sebring and I have no doubt about Olli’s rapid acclimatization. (Caldwell, NDLR). However, the level of LMP2 is so high that it will be important to be right from the start on this trying track for men and machines, even more so than Le Mans, to prepare well for this first event. We will have to respond and the whole team is back in working order to achieve our performance and reliability objectives. We are all looking forward to it so that the serious things can begin! »
