The startup founded in 2019, Kifal Auto, has drawn up a global offer on its marketplace to respond to the problems related to the used car market: credit, insurance, warranty, mechanical expertise, etc.
Having started its activity in 2019, Kifal Auto is a Moroccan start-up which aims to transform the used car market. The company founded by Nizar Abdallaoui Maane (Essec Paris graduate and former BNP Paribas) and co-managed with Aamr Abi (HEC Paris graduate, former Hmizates) is one of the Moroccan startups selected in the 212founders program of CDG Invest. Kifal Auto supports its customers throughout the purchase-sale chain of their used car, namely: vehicle appraisal and quotation, control of administrative procedures and delivers a mechanical warranty (minimum 3 months) to buyers . The Start-up prides itself on offering an offer “unique in Morocco”, as its founder and CEO, Nizar Abdallaoui Maane, underlines from the outset.
“On the seller’s side, we bring simplicity and security throughout the car sales process,” explains our contact. Thus, after having appraised and validated his vehicle, Kifal will suggest to the seller an “optimal” selling price according to the condition of his car and the demand on the market. Then, the start-up will manage the entire negotiation phase and administrative formalities for clients, up to the transaction. “Buyers are also served, thanks to a turnkey offer allowing them to benefit from financing and / or to subscribe to insurance directly through Kifal”, adds Nizar Abdallaoui.
Indeed, the manager explains that Kifal Auto has developed a set of tools with the aim of supporting the movement of professionalization of the used sales sector. An orientation studied on the basis of the growing demand for certified used vehicles. Among the solutions offered are the mechanical breakdown guarantee, the quotation tool, the management tool for the car take-back process … Despite the young age of the company, and despite a difficult market context, ” Kifal Auto is doing quite well, ”says the manager of the company. It must be said that, like the majority of industries, the used car market has also been shaken by the health crisis. “At the start of the health crisis, there was total uncertainty: What impacts? What duration? What extent? We were sailing a little on sight, then we quickly became aware of the extent of the phenomenon and of the fact that we had to learn to deal with uncertainty, ”says Nizar Abdallaoui Maane. The startup therefore very quickly took the necessary measures to maintain activity. Kifal Auto also benefited from the confinement period to work on strategic issues such as the overhaul of its website, the development of new service offers, the improvement of procedures, etc.
“On the one hand, we are improving our product and our service for individuals. On the other hand, we took advantage of the lull in confinement to think about and work on new offers to launch on the market, ”explains Nizar Abdallaoui Maane.
For example, since September 2020, Kifal Auto has formalized a mechanical breakdown guarantee on all second-hand cars appraised and sold through its platform, a procedure unique in Morocco. In addition, and since July 2020, the start-up offers its customers to buy a car remotely, without them having to move and the car is delivered to them at home anywhere in Morocco. In addition, since last September, the company has been supporting vehicle dealers and importers in their journey to digitize and upgrade their skills in the sale of used vehicles through technological tools and data. Note that Kifal Auto started with a team of two people and now has nearly twenty employees. Thanks to this, “we have the capacity to manage operations in five cities in Morocco”, assures the same source. As part of its strategy, Kifal Auto has built a sort of ecosystem around its business model, which has enabled it to strengthen its value proposition with several large players, the management explains.

Used cars are popular during this crisis
The health crisis has had a strong impact on the second-hand market. On the one hand, we went through a very calm phase: complete cessation of activity for three months due to the closure of administrative centers. On the other hand, the recovery was very dynamic, benefiting from several factors: consumers favor individual transport to avoid the risk of contamination, during the period of confinement, ownership of a vehicle was perceived as access to freedom. to be able to move … but above all, the effect of the economic crisis has encouraged Moroccans to move towards the purchase of a used vehicle rather than a new one because the choice is more rational and more controlled for the budget.
