The 1.5-liter three-cylinder petrol turbocharged engine from Countryman Cooper has been supplemented with an electric motor and a traction battery, the capacity of which has been increased from the original 7.7 kilowatt hours for the main lift model to ten, and the electric range from 55 to 61 kilometers. The total power of the system is 220 horsepower.
“The inscription All4 on the door shows that this car has all-wheel drive. However, care must be taken with this, as the electrified version has no mechanical link between the front and rear wheels. The rear wheels are powered by electricity like in Lexus hybrids, ”says Normunds Avotiņš.
One of the reasons why the entire power unit is not connected to the front axle is the trivial lack of space. But as a result, Mini or rather BMW has come out with a very unusual crossover! We tested the hybrid behavior on track 333 for safety. Being created with BMW, Countryman allows you to completely disable the anti-slip system. And being a neat Mini, it spits out new fashionable, heartless “butts” from the fifth floor. Everything from starting to interior lights works with unique aviation-type tumblers.
Conclusions
The half electric Mini Countryman turned out to be interesting not only because it is half electric. The car is equipped with strange driving modes, which make life much more colorful. Whether you would like to pay 54,000 euros for all this, which is the full price of this Mini, is the next question. But let’s keep in mind that the Mini Countryman can still be purchased with conventional, internal combustion engines, as well as with diesels.
