Auto Age Atlas Germany – The oldest carts drive in Bremen – economy

Finance Minister Olaf Scholz (SPD) recently in BILD talk “The right questions” reveal how often he buys a new car: every ten years. This makes Scholz a real average German.

The online service provider Check24 has now determined who drives the latest and who drives the oldest cars in Germany. Result: The oldest boxes run in the pot, more precisely in Gelsenkirchen and in Duisburg. The latest car fleet is in the car cities of Stuttgart and Munich.

Bremen is the state of old cars

If only the federal states are compared, the oldest cars drive in Bremen. In the northern German city-state, cars have been on average since 10.3 Years on the road.

In the Free State Bavaria and Thuringia are the latest sledges on the streets. Here the average age of the cars is only nine Years.

The oldest sheet metal drives in these cities

In Gelsenkirchen and Duisburg the cars are on average eleven and 10.7 Year old. Also in Hagen the average car age is about 10.7 years.

From this average age is too Keel (10.6 years) not far away. Ludwigshafen on the Rhine (10.5 years) and Saarbrucken (10.4 years) take fifth and sixth place.

The middle-aged cars frolic here

The midfield is very homogeneous. The cars in the former FRG capital Bonn, the Ruhr metropolis eat, the university town Halle (Saale), the shopping city Hanover, the university town Mannheim and the spa town of Wiesbaden share an average age: it is 9.7 Years.

Stuttgart is the leader

In the financial metropolis Frankfurt am Main the cars are on average just nine Year old.

Brunswick has a young fleet: it is average 8.9 Year old. In Dusseldorf and Potsdam results in the same number.

In Bavaria’s state capital Munich the cars are the second youngest: they are average 8.7 Year old.

▶ ︎ The leader of the cities with the youngest cars is the seat of the car giant Daimler-Benz: In Stuttgart the cars are 8.6 years old on average.

Cars have gotten older overall

The average age of private cars has increased by 21 percent since 2009.

Check-24 customers’ vehicles were on average eight years old in 2009. In 2019, customers specified the average age of their car when they took out insurance at 9.7 years.
