SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, March 2 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Governing Council has authorized this Thursday, at the proposal of the Minister of Public Administrations, Justice and Security, Julio Pérez, the expense corresponding to the premium of the collective life insurance policy in favor of the personnel at the service of the Community Administration Autonomous, for the period between January 1 and December 31, 2023, for an amount of 3,749,950 euros.
The contracting of this group life insurance was authorized by the Government Council of the Canary Islands, in the session held on July 8, 2021, and it was awarded to the company Surne Mutua de Seguros y Reaseguros, through Order number 201/2021, of December 29, 2021, of the Minister of Public Administrations, Justice and Security. The contract was formalized on February 2, 2022, with a duration of three years, from January 1, 2022 to December 31, 2024, and the form of payment of the premium is through a single annual payment.
The current insurance policy covers death from any cause (12,020.24 euros) and permanent total, absolute and severe disability (6,010.12 euros) of public personnel (officials, labor and statutory employees of the Canary Islands Health Service). As of January 1, 2023, the insured group amounts to 84,205 public employees (12,003 in General Administration, 28,497 in Education, 2,750 in Justice and 40,955 in Health).
Inclusion in the policy, for the entire group to be insured, is automatic, and there are no conditions of adherence of any kind, nor is it necessary to fill out the adherence bulletin, statement of state of health or medical requirement.
Excluded from the coverage of this insurance are risks classified as extraordinary by the Insurance Compensation Consortium, according to current legislation at all times, covered by said entity, those produced by armed conflicts, even if the official declaration of war has not preceded, and Those derived from nuclear energy, without prejudice to the provisions of Law 12/2011, of May 27, on civil liability for nuclear damage or damage caused by radioactive materials.
The accident rate reported in 2022 and attributed to the insurance company in 2022 was 30 deaths (360,607.20 euros) and 317 people with disabilities (1,905,208.04 euros). However, to see the complete accident rate for that year, it is also necessary to reflect those reports that year, but which must be attributed to previous years.
Thus, both in 2021 and 2022 the total reported accident rate amounts to amounts close to 3.7 million euros. For example, from February 1 to December 31, 2022, 59 deaths (709,194.16 euros) and 498 people with disabilities (2,993,039.76 euros) were reported, representing a total of 3,702,233.92 euros. .
