Lieutenant General Osama Rabie, head of the Suez Canal Authority, said that the authority is fighting against time. To ensure that traffic does not stop or be disrupted in the shipping lane, citing the short time in which the authority finished dealing with the breakdowns of two tankers, during their crossing of the canal, at dawn today.

During a phone call to the “On My Responsibility” program, presented by the journalist Ahmed Moussa on the “Sada Al-Balad” satellite channel, on Wednesday evening, he thanked the tugboat captains, marine workers and rescue teams, who dealt with the malfunctions of the two tankers at 2 am.

He denied the occurrence of a leak from the gas and oil tankers in the shipping channel, praising the workers who do not hesitate to serve the authority and the canal at all times.

And he emphasized dealing with the malfunctions of the two carriers very professionally, adding: “I was present and saw a clear image in front of me from the cameras, and I followed up on the phone with them, and we were able to finish the matter in the shortest time that the operation could be carried out, taking into account the existing weather conditions.”

He referred to the regularity of the movement now, and the crossing of 76 ships, today, Wednesday, before asking “Moses” to end the conversation. Because he received a phone call from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

Today, Wednesday, the Suez Canal Authority announced the regularity of navigation in the canal after dealing immediately with the failures of two tankers during their crossing of the canal.

Lieutenant-General Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Authority, stated earlier in the day that a slight friction occurred between the liquefied natural gas tanker “BW LESMES” and the oil tanker that followed it, “BURRI”, during the sudden stop of the first tanker in the navigational channel in the 144-kilometer numbering channel, after It was subjected to a technical failure in the steering and the machines, which made it lose the ability to steer, in parallel with the intensity of the current that pushed the BURRI tanker towards friction with the idle tanker.
