Berlin’s authorities are thinner than usual in the time between the holidays this year. The Senate Department for Finance has asked the Senate and district administrations to give a generous amount of leave that has not yet been set at the end of the year.

This was announced by a spokeswoman for the financial administration responsible for the national staff on request. In addition, a regulation has been recommended to the departments according to which for the period from Monday, December 21 to Friday, January 1, the service or work must be performed from home.

Exceptions must be expressly approved

In the home office, the possibilities for digital work should be used. If this cannot be fully guaranteed, restrictions on the ability to work are to be accepted. According to the information, exceptions must be expressly approved by the respective authority management. The aim is to largely avoid the risk of infection and not to carry it to the office after the holidays.

Company holidays or generous home office solutions are recommended

The individual administrations were informed about this at the end of November; there is no connection with the current considerations for a lockdown after Christmas. Rather, the background is the agreements between the federal government and the states of November 25th. According to this, employers are “urgently asked” to check whether business premises can close due to company holidays or generous home office solutions from December 23 to January 1.
