The Cuban Embassy in Mexico shared information about the health status of the migrants from the Island who were involved in an accident that occurred last Sunday in Chiapas, where 10 Cuban women died, including a minor.
The Antillean authorities in Mexican territory indicated that, of the 17 people who were injured during that accident, only six remain admitted to the hospital, among them a minor who suffers from a lung problem.
According to the Cuban Embassy, the minor’s family has already moved to the hospital to accompany him during his recovery process.
In turn, they indicated that nine of the 10 deceased have already been identified thanks to the victims’ families, who provided key data to the forensic officers in charge of this task.
Additionally, the diplomatic headquarters affirms that it is working together with the Mexican authorities to repatriate the bodies of the deceased back to Cuba, in accordance with the wishes of the relatives.

Traffic accident in Chiapas
The incident occurred during the early hours of Sunday, October 1, when a Torton-type truck was transporting almost 30 undocumented migrants. The group intended to illegally leave the border city of Tapachula, where they had been stranded for several days.

Among the deceased was a minor of only 12 years of age., who was traveling towards the United States with her mother. The little girl was identified as María Fernanda Lara Taravela, and her mother as Danelis Talavera Sánchez, 32 years old.
