“The high level of gas consumption by German private households threatens a shortage of blue fuel next winter.” The share of private gas consumption is growing too fast, despite the sharp rise in prices. German consumers now consume 15% more fuel than last year. Whether we have a warm or cold winter, we need at least 20% savings. So far we are far from this figure, “says Federal Network Agency head (German regulator) Klaus Müller in an interview with Frankfurter Allgemeine. He warns that if private households are no longer frugal, the entire German industry will suffer.
“Prices lead to a significant reduction in production. Germany has organized supplies of LNG from many parts of the world, but all of this is not enough to replace Russian fuel,” adds the head of the federal agency.
