The US cyber security agency, Cisa, has now sent out detailed instructions to all authorities in the country on how to security scan their local Exchange systems, reports Zdnet.
The prompt comes after several vulnerabilities were discovered in Microsoft Exchange Server, which can be used by attackers to gain access to organizations’ network systems.
Microsoft has previously released several updates and security tools to address the vulnerabilities. Cisa’s call is thus to ensure that the authorities actually use the updates and tools to detect any vulnerabilities and intrusions that have been missed.
Due to the fact that Microsoft’s scanner tools require a lot of processor capacity, the authorities are advised to carry out the scan when the systems are not heavily loaded. Results of the scan must then be reported to Cisa no later than Monday, April 5.
