Authorities and Metra solve case of armed man on the platform | Univision Chicago WGBO

CHICAGO, Illinois. – A Chicago man was charged with three felonies for allegedly firing a rifle from the McCormick Place station platform on the Metra power line earlier this month. Shawn A. Kimbrough, 40, was charged with aggravated illegal use of a weapon, possession of a firearm without a firearm owner identification card and reckless discharge of a firearm.

Kimbrough will have to appear before a judge this Tuesday in the court of 26th and California. Police report that the suspect surrendered to Metra police on Monday morning, after public collaboration was requested from the public in locating him.

The incident, which was captured by the station’s video cameras, occurred around 10 a.m. on December 1. In the images you can see the man standing on the platform, the moment he takes a rifle from a bag and shoots in the middle of the platform. The subject then returned the rifle to his bag and left the station. So far it is not clear what he was aiming for, and thankfully no one was injured.
