Austro start-up plans to launch “direct attack on Amazon” »Leadersnet

With the launch of the online shop “Shöpy”, “disadvantage of domestic products on the net” is to be balanced.

In the offer of the online shop “Shöpy” that has just started, everything is “made in Austria”: With his project, founder Christian Pittner only offers products from Austrian start-ups and, as he says himself, wants to get involved with the really big ones -up-Founder has stated that it has set itself the goal of starting a “direct attack on Amazon” with its neo-business, which grew out of the Corona crisis.

With well-known partners from the start-up world – at the time of the launch are among others Tractive, Playbrush, Sunnybag, Luke Roberts, Robo Wunderkind, Mikme and Gusta Garden on board – “shöpy” went online on Sunday, April 19th. And the offer takes the concept of exclusivity to heart: the range only includes products from Austrian startups. Among all the products there are also privacy cell phone cases from Horus, whose co-founder is Christian Pittner.

“Austrian products are often automatically ranked backwards on the web”

“Since many stores are currently closed, smaller startups can only generate sales through their web shops. However, these require their own registration and lots of resources each time to advertise the website. Especially in an economic crisis, it is important to buy from regional companies and taxes are paid in the country accordingly. Both points are avoided as far as possible at the US company Amazon in order to further increase profit, “said Pittner.

He knows from his own experience with Horus: “Products that have been developed or manufactured in Austria are often automatically ranked on the web due to the comparatively high price”. Accordingly, an online shop is needed, where only products developed or manufactured in Austria are offered. So you want to support domestic companies in the corona crisis.

Pittner does not shy away from comparison with Amazon when it comes to usability. After a one-time registration, the ordering process at Shöpy is just as easy as with the e-commerce giant. There are also a number of special offers for Shöpy users, and in general the founder sees himself confirmed by the start-ups already listed. “The creation of a platform usually fails because of the offer, but the country’s most important startups were immediately won over,” said Pittner.
