Tenth round of the ADMIRAL Bundesliga and our team went to the Vienna-Favoriten distribution group. After four games without defeat, the Blue-Whites wanted to continue the positive mood against Wiener Austria, who were in poor form.
Coach Gerald Scheiblehner made a change to the starting line-up. Pasic started from the start and had his hands full on defense with his teammates. In an intensive initial phase, Austria managed to gain an early advantage. By joining forces, the Royal Blues were able to pull themselves out of the affair again and again and after around 20 minutes they were able to contribute more and more to the game.
In the 24th minute there was a TOP chance for Linz. After preparatory work by Mensah and Ronivaldo, Noß was denied with a header by keeper Früchtl. It was the best phase for the Linzers, who now wanted to use the momentum against an unsettled opponent. But exactly in this phase then a brutally cold shower. In the 38th minute, Gruber scored 1-0 right in the middle of the Blue-White Heart and just two minutes later the striker scored his brace to make it 2-0. It was hair-tearing!
However, Gerald Scheiblehner’s team shook themselves off once again and started attacking again towards the end of the first half – but they didn’t score a goal and so the game went into the locker room with a 2-0 lead for the home team.
At the start of the second half, around 12,000 visitors saw Vienna Austria desperately wanting to close the bag and score the third goal. We could hardly free ourselves from our own half and in the 55th minute it happened. New signing Asllani made it 3-0.
The atmosphere in the stadium was good – the fans wanted more and we had little to counter it. Austria was hungry and continued to look for a way forward and was rewarded once again in the 77th minute. Again it was Andreas Gruber who scored his drip pack to make it 4-0.
Despite all our efforts, we were unable to score a consolation goal until the end. In the end, the Austrians win clearly 4-0.
