Austrian youths wanted to set fire to police officers | Abroad

“We assume that they really planned this and that it didn’t work out. That’s why they only attacked the police car,” a police spokesperson told DPA news agency. The suspects would have stated that they see agents as opponents because they maintain the corona measures.

Lockdown

Austria has decided on a lockdown due to rising infection numbers. On Monday, the catering industry, many shops and schools will close. Austrians who have been vaccinated and who have recovered from Covid-19 are subject to the lockdown until December 13 at the latest. Those who have not yet been vaccinated will stay indoors longer, apart from shopping or going to the doctor. The vaccination obligation will come into effect in February 2022.

The full lockdown comes after two weeks of stricter restrictions that only applied to unvaccinated people. Hundreds of additional police officers have been deployed to monitor compliance with the corona measures.
