“The Ants and the Grasshopper” as part of “Hunger.Macht.Profite” at the Waidhofen film stage.
As part of the “11. Film Days on the Right to Food – Hunger.Macht.Profite” the Austrian premiere of the documentary film “The Ants and the Grasshopper” took place on Monday of the previous week in the Waidhofen film stage.
The film shows the threatening dimensions of climate change in Malawi by following farmer Anita Citaya as she teaches her village community what changes are necessary to be able to continue farming despite water scarcity. In addition to polyculture cultivation or new ovens, this also requires equality between spouses, but also between the rich and poor countries of the world.
In the film discussion that followed, the importance of local initiatives was emphasized and that consumer decisions and pressure on politicians are important.
