The painting “The Lady with a Hand Fan” by Austrian artist Gustav Klimt broke a record at European auctions, as it was sold at an auction in London for 74 million pounds (about 94 million dollars).
Klimt began painting the painting in 1917, a year before his death in 1918 at the age of 55, when the painting was described as not only the star of the summer auction season in London, but also one of the most beautiful and valuable things ever offered in Europe, and that it beats with freedom. And spontaneity and paint beauty in its purest form.
The previous record in European auctions was for Alberto Jacometti’s sculpture “A Walking Man 1”, which was sold in February 2010 at “Sotheby’s” auction for 65 million pounds sterling, before the Austrian artist Gustav Klimt’s painting broke this figure, which is one of his last works.
