Austria: The far-right Freedom Party wins the election, according to exit polls – 2024-09-30 14:34:58

The far-right Freedom Party (FPÖ) has a lead of 29.1% (+13 from the 2019 election), the first forecast of the Austrian election results shortly after the polls closed.

In second place with 26.2% (-11.2) is the ruling centre-right People’s Party (ÖVP) of Chancellor Karl Nehammer, while in third place is the Socialist Party (SPÖ) with 20.4% (-0.8) . They are followed by the liberal NEOS with 8.8% (+0.7) and the Greens with 8.6% (-5.3).
