Austria also opens the border with Italy

From June 16, Austria will open its borders to Italy, Croatia, Greece and most other EU countries. Sweden is explicitly excluded from liberalization.

Vienna. Nothing stands in the way of a summer vacation by the sea. As of June 16, Austria will open its borders not only to Croatia and Greece, but also to Italy. This was what “Die Presse” learned from government circles. Minister of Health Rudolf Anschober and Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg will officially announce the decision on Wednesday. Before that, from 10 a.m. they confer with Interior Minister Karl Nehammer and Minister of Europe Karoline Edtstadler at a round table in the Federal Chancellery.

According to reports, the federal government will completely restore freedom of travel to more than two dozen countries in Europe from next Tuesday. The same rules apply as before the pandemic. Citizens can cross borders again without having to undergo a corona test or a fortnightly quarantine. However, the Federal Government will continue to recommend spending the summer of 2020 in Austria if possible and avoiding unnecessary travel. The big return campaign after the outbreak of the pandemic is still in the bones of the Foreign Office.
