Australia is currently dealing with the largest corona outbreak in the country due to the omikron variant. Just under 10,000 new infections were reported in the three largest states of New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland on Tuesday morning (local time). More than 90 percent of Australians over the age of 16 have been vaccinated.

Due to the new outbreak, there is again a national obligation to wear a mouth mask, but a new national lockdown will not come, Prime Minister Scott Morrison said last week.
