[Reporter Huang Mingtang/Taitung Report]Since 2015, the Australian Office has cooperated with the National Taiwan Museum of Prehistoric Culture for many times. To express my gratitude, Jenny Bloomfield, the representative in Taiwan, gave a personal gift today (2nd) The collected Australian Aboriginal paintings will be displayed and archived by the Museum of Prehistory, and we look forward to the continued cooperation between the two parties in the future to bring more exciting exhibitions to audiences across Taiwan.

The representative of the Australian office in Taiwan, Lu Zhenyi, expressed her gratitude to the curator Wang Changhua and the prehistoric museum team for their long-term cooperation with the Australian office, especially the amazing “First Wave: Contemporary Australian and Taiwanese Aboriginal Fashion Art Exhibition” in 2022. The exhibition connects the cultural and artistic creations of the aboriginal peoples of both sides. Today is “Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Remembrance Week”. Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have a deep connection with the land, sea and ethnic group. Australia and Taiwan also share a rich Aboriginal history, and Now is the time to jointly promote and share culture and values. She presented the prehistoric museum with the artwork of aboriginal artist Rosemary Petyarre.

Wang Changhua, Director of the Prehistoric Museum, said that the cooperation between the Prehistoric Museum and the Australian Office began in 2015 with “Canning Road: Australian Contemporary Aboriginal Art Exhibition”. Australian Aboriginal art is not common in Taiwan, but its unique visual performance fascinates people , the symbol system carries more profound culture and legends, not only inheriting the history of the aborigines and the land, but also showing the story of life. The updated Prehistoric Hall also displays a number of creations by contemporary Taiwanese aboriginal artists, leading the audience to understand contemporary issues through their works, and then reverse their cognition and imagination.
